Ignacio Middle and High SchoolS

The Kwek Society began partnerships with Ignacio Middle and High Schools in 2022. The schools are located within the Southern Ute Indian Reservation, about 30 minutes southeast of Durango. Ignacio Middle School students were already stocking the school bathrooms, so we sent pads, tampons and liners to boost their stock, and also started supplying the High School. At the Middle School’s request, we sent puberty books to the school library and provided enough moon time bags for every menstruator.

We are excited to be supporting student-led initiatives addressing period poverty and menstrual equity. Ignacio school bathrooms now reliably offer students toilet paper, soap, paper towels AND period supplies!

Shortly after our first shipment of supplies reached IMS, Ignacio High School counselor Alicia Reinhardt asked if we could support the 110 or so IHS menstruators. Shipments to IHS began in mid-April 2022.
