Indian Twonship School

Indian Township School

Princeton, Maine

Indian Township School is a public K-8 school located on the Passamaquoddy Reservation lands in rural Maine, near the Canadian border.  It was selected as the 2019 School of the Year by the Maine Environmental Education Association in recognition of its demonstrated commitment to creating authentic learning opportunities for its students and engaging them in food systems education. We support about 40 of the school’s students with period supplies, moon time bags and puberty education books.

At a time when our country was in turmoil with a pandemic, and paper goods and cleaning supplies were scarce, Kwek Society came through with supplies for our girls. It was a relief for our girls to not have to worry about where they could get their personal supplies, when trips to a store were minimal and distant, as there are no retailers on the reservation. But what they loved the most were the hand sewn Moon Bags that they could discreetly carry their personals with them. They were in their beach bags this summer, and will be in their backpacks for school. We are forever grateful to The Kwek Society.
