Smee School District

The Smee School District Nurse Britni Wolf reached out to us before school-end 2024 to request our support for 75 students.  The Smee School District is located within the boundaries of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in north-central South Dakota. The Standing Rock Reservation, which lies partly in North Dakota and partly in South Dakota, is one of the largest reservations in the Dakotas. Smee School District covers an area of over 300 square miles, and presently serves students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The majority of the students are enrolled members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

We were able to stock the 3 schools that make up the Smee School district before they closed and to invite students to take home period care items to meet their summer moon time needs. The schools’ “dedicat[ion] to the intellectual and social growth of each student as they learn to live effectively in a contemporary bi-cultural world” resonates with so many of us operating The Kwek Society; we are excited to add these students to the growing list of those we support!
