Nenahnezad Community School

Fruitland, New Mexico

Nenahnezad Community School is a large Bureau of Indian Education-funded  school situated near the banks of the San Juan River in the northern area of the Navajo Nation. The school’s stated vision is to grow students with eyes to the future and hearts in the past. It “focus[es] on improving students’ skills with tools and technology to prepare them in a rapidly advancing world, but to remember and practice the culture and values that their Navajo elders embrace.”

The Kwek Society began supporting about 75 of NCS’ students with period care at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, working with its school nurse, Sonja Begay.
