Shawano School District
Shawano, Wisconsin
Our board member Winona Elliott introduced us to the 4 schools that comprise the Shawano School District. It’s a large, rural district with about 75 students at risk of period poverty without outside support. Our partnership started in January 2024.
In March 2024, Jessica Wiseman, RN, the School District Nurse, wrote us the following about the schools’ period stations:
I would like to share some photos of the “period stations” that we have been able to put up in some of our bathrooms. I am grateful that The Kwek Society’s donation has allowed us to better meet the needs of our students.
We provided some education about these stations to our younger students. As a result, I now have a large group of 5th grade girls who are my biggest helpers! They take turns keeping the stations stocked with supplies. They are engaged and take ownership of these stations and never hesitate to ask questions.
